Sunday
Had my first hockey game of the season with my main team tonight – it was a close one… we only lost by a goal. I had an awesome scoring opportunity where the other team’s goalie had played the puck, but it only went about a foot in front of her and as I was skating to the net, I saw that her defenceman was just standing there, looking at the puck. And I thought, “Seriously, they are just staring at the puck and it’s right in front of the goalie?” So I just skated in and grabbed it and took a shot. Didn’t score (the goalie was pretty good at making saves), but I thought it was pretty funny nonetheless. Overall, we played really well, especially given that we have a fair number of new players and it was our first game back. I think we’ll be totally kick ass by mid-season!
After hockey, Kim and I went to the produce store to stock up on fruits and veggies. Then I came home and cooked up a storm! I baked some bread ((Now that I know how easy it is, I’m so into baking my own bread)) and then I made some of my favourite green rice (shown here with yogurt as I had used a big jalapeño and it turned out rather spicy) and invented a recipe for some stuffed peppers and stuffed mushrooms. I basically just mixed together stuff that seemed like it would taste good as the stuffing: celery, green onions, chopped up bits of the stems taken from the mushrooms that were about to be stuffed, garlic, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, dijion mustard, sea salt. Then I topped them with some cheese, because cheese makes everything better! They turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself!
