Happy Chinese New Year!
Honestly, I know pretty much nothing about Chinese New Year, other than that it happens in February. But apparently it is now the year of the Rabbit. Which means that according to the Chinese zodiac, my sister’s new baby will be a Rabbit1, just like she is. Not that I believe in astrology or anything. But it is hard not to take at least a passing interest in it given that I am the awesomest of the Chinese zodiac signs – a dragon! And not only am I a dragon, but I recently learned, thanks to Dr. Dan‘s friend Rick2, that in addition to animals, the Chinese zodiac also includes elements and I am, in fact, a freaking FIRE dragon! That’s like dragon squared! The most dragonlicious of all the dragons. All hail Dragon Beth!
*I’ve seen the Chinese New Year greeting of wishing someone prosperity written at least three different ways today. I’ve used Wikipedia’s version (Kung Hii Fatt Choi) for my blog posting title, but I’ve also seen it as “Gung Hey Phat Choi” and “Gung Hay Fat Choy.”
