On the second day of donating…
A colleague of mine started working for the BC Lung Association this year. We are in the midst of a pandemic of a respiratory virus and so lungs seem rather important right now. Thus, I decided to choose this organization for today’s donation.

The BC Lung Association does all sorts of things related to healthy air and healthy lungs, including:
- helping people quit smoking or vaping
- helping people from out-of-town who receive lung transplants get the temporary housing they need near Vancouver General Hospital that they have to have for at least 3 months. And trust me, that’s not a cheap place to find housing, so I can imagine that this requirement could be prohibitive for a lot of people who need lung transplants!
- providing education, resources, and policy options related to indoor air pollutants
- providing information on risks to lung health, like wood fire and wildfire smoke
Just to name a few!
On their website, I learned that 1 in 5 British Columbians are affected by a lung condition. That’s a lot of people!
