Worst Driving Move I’ve Seen Yet
So, we all know there are some terrible drivers out there and we’ve all seen some pretty asshat moves. But the one I saw today takes the cake. This car was stopped at a red light in the left hand turn lane. Now, I don’t know if the driver didn’t realize it was a left hand turn lane or if just changed their mind and decided not to turn left, but when the light turned green, they just drove straight ahead, directly into the *oncoming* left hand turn lane. WTF? I mean, if you screwed and are in the turn lane by accident, just turn left and then find a way to turn around to get back on the road you want to be on ((or, at the very least, if no one is behind you, wait until all the cars in the proper lane go by and then scoot over to the correct lane)). But who the hell drives into the oncoming lane? Thankfully there was no one in that lane, but it still means that she’s driving on the wrong side of the frickin’ road! Gah!!!
For some reason I parsed this as “worst driving MOVIE I’ve seen yet.” And I’m like, “What’s a driving MOVIE?”
I had the same thought, Kalev!
Wow, that’s… special.
I was once waiting at a four way stop (at an intersection of two bike routes) on my bike, while a woman in a flashy red convertible sports car was turning left onto the block I was on. There was a traffic cone right in the middle of the road she was turning into, as there was construction further along the block. She tried to go the wrong way around the traffic cone, i.e. on the left hand side of the road, and yelled at me and another cyclist for being in her way! It was unbelievable! The guy in front of me yelled “you’re on the wrong side of the road!”, and she said “no, YOU are!” I said “look, I’m English, and even I know that you’re supposed to drive on the right in Canada”. She just could NOT admit she was wrong, and stayed in the middle of the intersection honking and yelling at the two of us for the heinous crime of waiting at a stop sign on the right hand side of the road. She ended up pushing the traffic cone out of the way with her car while continuing to call us idiots.
Oh, and a couple of weeks ago an idiot in an SUV managed to park straddling the lane divider line on the ferry, leaving a gap approximately 1 inch wider than an average car for people to squeeze through – and just left it like that and walked away! My husband helped a few drivers get through the gap, but then the ferry people came and assessed the situation, rolled their eyes a bit, and said it was lucky there wasn’t a full load and no-one else had to try and squeeze through.
My explanation is really drunk/high/senile/american(cause we all know the close to the equator you get the worst the drivers get)/all of the above. You’d have to have something affecting your decision-making skills to even consider that! Was there a median so they were trapped in the oncoming traffic for a block? If not, I’ve actually seen this before.
